A modern-day Gulliver falls asleep while studying and finds himself bouncing between dream worlds inhabited by a president-who-would-be-king and an African-American Jesus running a homeless shelter. A cohort of the greatest philosophers of history appear as talking animals to enlighten our hero as Jesus guides him homeward. Along the way, Jesus uses passages from the New Testament to highlight how Christianity has been highjacked by grifters and conservative politicians.
Stephen Tryon delivers a prescient parody of Donald Trump as a president who wants to be a king. A tired student falls asleep and finds himself bouncing between dream experiences in the Oval Office and the town of Green Valley. In Green Valley, he encounters an African-American Jesus running a homeless shelter, guiding a young woman seeking an abortion, and providing leadership for a Black Lives Matter rally. When the student runs afoul of an ICE raven, Jesus agrees to represent him at his trial for an alleged Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) violation. Jesus is joined by Socrates, Descartes and other great thinkers from history, many of whom appear as talking animals, to help the hero find answers to big questions of morality, meaning and justice as he searches for a way home. This is political satire in the best tradition of Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels.
